Ray Hollowell; Founder
Ray Hollowell's dedication to helping protect our marine environment and its inhabitants has allowed him to develop a special bond with the ocean and its animals as documented through his camera lens. Whether he's filming amongst a pod of dolphins, eye to eye with a shark, or observing humpback whales as they glide by, Hollowell usually captures shots that bring sizzle to the screen.
In the early sixties, Ray spent his childhood summers in and around the coastal waters of southeastern Virginia and the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he learned to surf. His video career started when he purchased his first video camera in 1982 to shoot special events and his surf adventures. When he moved to the Hawaiian Islands more than 20 years ago, Ray was inspired by local surf photographers to take his video skills to the next level and thus spawned his career as an ocean adventure water cameraman and television producer.
Hollowell has produced and provided content for many national and international television shows, with his contributions being aired on ABC's 20/20, CBS, NBC's Dateline, National Geographic, 60 Minutes Australia, The BBC, The Disney Channel, CNN, FOX, Animal Planet, MSNBC, MTV, ABC's Primetime, ESPN, HBO, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, Spike TV, Delta Airlines, Japan Airlines, TV Tokyo, Hawaiian Airlines, NHK and more. His ocean adventure footage has also sold successfully nationwide as DVDs in stores such as Best Buy, BJ's Warehouses, and Sam's Club.
In 2009, Mr. Hollowell launched PlanSEA.org, a non-profit 501(c)(3) video production company located in Honolulu, Hawai`i. He realized that the next generation needed to learn the vital importance of becoming good stewards of the marine environment. PlanSEA.org creates programming that teaches children and adults about the importance of sustainability and stewardship of the planet with a focus on our oceans.
PlanSEA.org came to Ray as a vision after his near death experience at the notorious Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu. The following link is the Dateline NBC special featuring Mr. Hollowell's miraculous survival story.

KAMA™ is the "spokespig" for PlanSEA. Yes, he is a pig, but he loves to surf! So, he loves the ocean and the environment around us and wants to keep it as pristine and clean as possible, for as long as possible. You know that PlanSEA does facilitate surfing events for children with disabilities and KAMA comes along to serve as an inspiration to the children and their families as he participates in these fun filled activities.
KAMA™ helps us with our volunteer programs and service projects by being our inspirational mascot that puts a smile on everyones face that meets him! He also teaches all of those around him to preserve our environment - his job is to bring awareness to the ocean environment in a fun and unique way.
How does he do this? He surfs, lets movies be made about him, and allows children the opportunity to interact with him both on the beach and in the water. By doing this he encourages all of us to learn more and do more. See below for pictures of KAMA™.
