Emphasis is placed on environmental stewardship so that children will realize how knowledge can have a positive impact on our marine ecosystems.

This is accomplished through the creation of a 13-episode series of :30-minute television shows consisting of :05-minute vignettes to be hosted by-and-for children and produced by PlanSEA.org with the assistance of a production team of professional ocean adventure producers, videographers, photographers, editors, composers and production technicians.

PlanSEA.org has secured a distribution agreement with the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina. NETA, a non-profit corporation, is a 96 member organization representing 99 public broadcasting licensees in all 50 states, the Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. On a daily basis more than 38-million children, grades K-12, are reached through NETA. Content is delivered to primary and secondary schools via PBS affiliates nationwide.

Select MBR segments will be uploaded to the Ocean in Google Earth project. Currently, Google Earth has more than 500-million subscribers worldwide and counting. This incredible distribution resource will allow millions of potential viewers to have the opportunity to watch the important messages MBR conveys. Sponsor messages will be recognized by millions for years to come.

My Beach Report appears on the PlanSEA.org site. Here visitors are able to view brief 5-minute vignettes. The MBR television series will encourage children to visit the website to view archived reports including viewer-produced segments. These segments will be a key element to growing the site s visitor traffic. Here visitors will find easy-to-follow instructions on how to research and produce their own MBR news segment and upload it to our website. A web editor will be assigned to monitor viewer-submitted content to insure age-appropriateness and accuracy of information.

Beyond its exposure in the United States, PlanSEA.org has garnered its first international partnership. A Japanese version of the PlanSEA.org website featuring My Beach Report shows hosted and subtitled in Japanese will be produced. A cooperative marketing relationship has been established with the third largest revenue producing web company in Japan SunSmile. Web ads on SunSmile s network of websites will direct viewers to the Japanese version of My Beach Report as featured on PlanSEA.org. The Japanese site will incorporate an ESL (English as a Second Language) component to help Japanese children learn English, as well as garner information about the marine environment. More than 5,000 kindergarten and pre-schools will be reached throughout Japan. For an entire day, everyone was immersed in a hands-on experience of the Waianae coastal marine environment. The activities included a three hour adventure tour on board the 65-foot luxury catamaran Kai Oli Oli provided by Ocean Joy Cruises.

The children enjoyed a snorkeling session in the clear blue waters off Leeward Oahu as they viewed colorful coral reefs, a variety of tropical fish, Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu) as well as Spinner dolphins (nai a).

Enhancing their adventure, the children were graced with ocean-oriented inspirational music and poems provided by Kristofor Szazs, Poet Laureate.

Upon their return to shore, the children were hosted at Ihilani Resort & Spa where they were greeted by Chuck Harvey, a marine wildlife photographer and Carey Morishige, the marine debris expert for National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. Here the children learned more about Hawaii s ocean animals and the devastating impact plastics and marine debris have on the sea and its animals. Later the children joined Patrick Ching, a master muralist, in the creation of the first ever Celebrate the Sea Art Miles mural. The entire experience was captured for a future :30-minute My Beach Report Special.

Everyone walked away energized and excited to learn more. This same experience will be duplicated throughout our State waters as every coastal encounter will be a unique occurrence...one that will be shared world-wide.
